LIVING OLD CREATIVE CYCLE
After his parents moved to a home for the elderly, François Grisé decided to engage in a two-month immersion stay in a retirement home in Val-d’Or. In a journal of more than 200 pages, he compiled his reflections, as well as anecdotes from his day-to-day life and fragments of stories that were passed on to him. By plunging into their reality, he built a trusting bond with the residents, from whom he gathered more than 80 hours of audio and video interviews. This experience marked a turning point in his commitment in art, propelling him to set in motion the Vivre vieux (Living old) creation cycle, which is divided into three artworks.
The thematic of aging in Quebec is a delicate subject, stirring up emotion and indignation. Vivre Vieux offers the possibility to perceive this new reality - which concerns us all - as an opportunity to believe in the power of our individual and collective actions in making a difference; in creating a future in which we want to grow old. With the activities of the creative cycle, UN ET UN FONT MILLE invites the community to be a part of the change, as we harbor the belief in their ability to reimagine the realm of possibility.
